The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
