The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are united, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
