And remember Ibrahim in the Book; he was very truthful, a Herald of the Hidden (a Prophet). 41 He said to his father, "Why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor benefit you in any way? 42 O my father! truly the knowledge has come to me which has not come to you, therefore follow me, I will guide you on a right path: 43 Father, do not worship satan; for satan has rebelled against the Merciful. 44 O my father! surely I fear that a punishment from the Beneficent Allah should afflict you so that you should be a friend of the Shaitan. 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 Abraham replied, "Peace be on you: I will pray to my Lord for your forgiveness, He has indeed been gracious to me, 47 I will separate myself from you and from whatever you call upon besides God, and I will pray only to my Lord. It may well be that, in calling on my Lord, I will not be disappointed." 48 When (Abraham) rejected his people and what they worshipped instead of God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob and made both of them Prophets. 49 And We gave them Our mercy, and assigned for them a true and high repute. 50
