The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
