Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Mecca) – 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!" 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road? 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 Of a related orphan, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 The Fire will vault them over. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
