And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
