People of Hijr rejected the Messengers. 80 And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them. 81 And they hewed houses in the mountains in security. 82 But the Shout seized them in the morning, 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Your Lord is indeed the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. 86 We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated, and the mighty Koran. 87 Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers. 88 and clearly tell the unbelievers: "I am most certainly a plain warner," 89 Like as We sent down on the dividers 90 and who have broken the Scripture into fragments -- 91 By thy Lord, We will question them all. 92 concerning that they were doing. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 Indeed We suffice you against these mockers. 95 Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know. 96 And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say. 97 Glorify and praise your Lord and be with those who prostrate themselves before God. 98 And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). 99
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr). Sent down in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
