The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they behaved insolently and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allah). 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
