The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
