The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the sorcerers came to Pharaoh, saying, 'We shall surely have a wage, if we should be the victors?' 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 Pharaoh said: 'Do you believe in Him before I permit? This is a plot that you have contrived in the city in order to expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
