Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead); 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 None but God can avert it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
