The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
