Nay, by the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
