The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
