Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 Upon your heart (O Muhammad SAW) that you may be (one) of the warners, 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
