The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
