The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
