Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
