The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
