۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 “And stop them they are to be questioned.” 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
