The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
