The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
