Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
