And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
