The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
