Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And ten nights, 2 by the even and the odd, 3 And [by] the night when it passes, 4 Is this not a sufficient oath for intelligent people? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, 7 The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? 8 and Thamood, who hollowed the rocks in the valley, 9 And with Fir'awn, owner of the stakes 10 Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah). 11 and worked much corruption therein? 12 So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' 15 But when He tries him by restraining his means, he says: "My Lord despises me." 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! 18 and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed, 19 and you love wealth with an ardent love 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 And when the command of your Lord comes – and the angels row by row, 22 And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance? 23 He will say: would that I had sent before for this life of mine! 24 For, none can make suffer as He will make suffer [the sinners] on that Day, 25 And none can bind as He will bind. 26 [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! 27 return to your Lord well pleased with him and He will be pleased with you. 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
