Do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We will give sustenance to all of you. To kill them is certainly a great sin. 31 And do not approach adultery – it is indeed a shameful deed; and a very evil way. 32 And do not kill any one whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is slain unjustly, We have indeed given to his heir authority, so let him not exceed the just limits in slaying; surely he is aided. 33 And do not touch the property of the orphans except for bettering it, until they come of age; and fulfil the promise made: You will surely be questioned about the promise. 34 And fill up the measure when you measure, and weigh with the straight balance; that is better and fairer in the issue. 35 Do not follow what you do not know; for the ear and the eye and the heart shall all be called to account. 36 (xiv) Do not strut about in the land arrogantly. Surely you cannot cleave the earth, nor reach the heights of the mountains in stature. 37 The wickedness of all this is hateful with your Lord. 38 That is of the wisdom thy Lord set not up with God another god, or thou wilt be cast into Gehenna, reproached and rejected. 39 What, has your Lord favoured you with sons and taken to Himself from the angels females? Surely it is a monstrous thing you are saying! 40
