Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 Then We evacuated there from all the believers 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
