The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
