Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
