The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
