The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
