The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
