And We sent Noah to his people; and he, said, 'O my people, serve God! You have no god other than He. Will you not be godfearing?" 23 The unbelieving assembly of his nation said: 'This is but a human like you, who desires to gain superiority over you. Had Allah willed, He could have sent down angels. We never heard of this among our ancient forefathers. 24 (And some said): "He is only a man possessed: wait (and have patience) with him for a time." 25 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 26 then We revealed Our will to him: "Build the Ark under Our watchful eye according to Our instructions. When Our command comes, and waters gush up out of the earth, take on board pairs of every species and members of your household, except for any of them on whom sentence has already been passed -- do not plead with Me for those who have done wrong: they shall be drowned. 27 And when you have boarded the ship, you and those with you, then say, 'Praise to Allah who has saved us from the wrongdoing people.' 28 And say thou, my Lord! cause me to land at a landing blest, and thou art the Best of these who bring to land. 29 In this [story,] behold, there are messages indeed [for those who think]: for, verily, We always put [man] to a test. 30 Then We raised another generation after them, 31 And we sent among them a messenger of their own, saying: Serve Allah, Ye have no other Allah save Him.
