The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In a nearer land; and they, after the overcoming of them, shall soon overcome. 3 Within a few (up to nine) years time; only for Allah is the command, before and after; and the believers will rejoice on that day. 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 (It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart from His promise: but most men understand not. 6 They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware. 7 Ponder they not in their minds: Allah hath not created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain save with a purpose and for a term appointed? And verily many men in the meeting of their Lord are unbelievers. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of God, and they derided them. 10
