Say: "I am only a warner, and there is no other god but God, the one, the omnipotent, 65 Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between them, the Almighty, the Most Forgiving." 66 Say: It is a message of importance, 67 from which you are turning away. 68 I have no knowledge of the dispute among the angels (concerning their attitude towards Adam). 69 This alone is revealed to me, that I am only a clear warner.' 70 Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man from clay: 71 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him prostrate. 72 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 73 except iblis (satan, the father of the jinn), he became too proud, for he was one of the unbelievers. 74 He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted? 75 Answered [Iblis]: "I am better than he: Thou hast created me out of fire, whereas him Thou hast created out of clay." 76 "Begone! You are accursed: 77 and My rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 78 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 79 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 80 Until the Day of the time appointed. 81 He said: Then by Thy Might I will surely make them live an evil life, all, 82 "Except Thy Servants amongst them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 83 He (i.e. Allah) said: “This is the Truth -- and I only speak the Truth -- 84 [That] I will surely fill Hell with you and those of them that follow you all together." 85 Say thou: I ask of you for it no hire, nor am I of the affecters. 86 This is nothing but an Admonition for all people the world over. 87 “And you will come to know of its tidings, after a while.” 88
