And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
