Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
