The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
