The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Book written 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the House inhabited 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
