The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
