The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
