Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
