The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
