The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
