۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
