Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I declare unto you upon whom the satans descend! 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
