(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 and that it is He alone who deals death and grants life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection); 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
