The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
