The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
